Seoul
Current mood: cheerful

Another venture to Seoul.

This time, I was accompanied by Amy, a new teacher at SLP. We went to meet up with Jeff Baynes, a dear friend of mine from my first summer in Alaska who is also teaching English in Korea. His school is located in an entirely different area of the country, so although I have been here for three months, this is our first time meeting up. We hadn't seen each other in a year and a half, but it felt like no time had passed.

We went to see the Deoksugung Palace, stumbled upon a river walkway in downtown on our way to Insadong, the traditional Korean shopping street. We took the subway to Itaewaon, the foreigner area, to get some Mexican food!! There's actually a Mexican restaurant in Korea! My fajitas were pretty good, as was my "world famous" margarita. From there, we headed to a college area for some drinks, dancing, and an overnight stay at a hotel called Bobo, which boasted a flat screen TV and free internet. Nice!

The next day, Jeff's friend Kelly was nursing a fairly significant hangover, so they took off early. Amy and I found Fashion Street and did a little shopping and chatting at a coffee shop before circling back to Seoul Station. Before we caught the KTX, we encountered an anti-war protest and lamented being unable to understand Korean. It would have been so interesting to hear...
